Fenlands

Fenlands

About

The Fens – flat and boring for some, magical and irresistible for others.

Fenlands is a work in two parts. Fenlanders is a collection of ten short stories set in the Fens from the 1950s to the 1990s. Eastmore Fen is a set of five linked short stories set in one fictional corner of the Fens where the inhabitants are trying to preserve a disappearing way of life.

In a land where sky and land melt into one, Fenlands evokes both a disappearing world and hope for the future. Above all, it tells stories of family, friendship, humour, myth and quiet acts of kindness in a place unlike any other.

Come and spend some time among the people and places that make up Fenlands.

Richard Green

I was born in England and grew up in and around the Fens. Since then, I have lived in 17 different countries and visited more than 90. I have always written, but recently it has become something of an obsession.

I write stories about small communities in the Fens and elsewhere, including Spain, where I now live, and Latin America, where I lived before.

If I am asked what I do, I reply - Storyteller.
